My interest in oncology physical therapy began when my father was diagnosed with throat cancer.
Since oncology physical therapy was a new area at the time, I started taking continuing educational courses at the Physiological Oncology Rehabilitation Institute and researched specific treatments. I became the primary therapist that treated oncology clients in a San Francisco center as my knowledge and experience expanded. I was determined to help those like my father who were living with cancer and trying to get the best quality of life’s daily and precious moments.
Ten years ago I moved from San Francisco to New York City and I have been practicing in an outpatient private clinic where primarily I treat oncology and geriatric patients. I believe in working closely with medical and surgical oncologists, plastic surgeons, radiologists, nurses, and other rehab therapists to coordinate optimal care for my patients.
The combination of years of sports medicine and oncology experience with a more recent geriatric focus, allows me to get patients of all ages with cancer back to the sports they played, the hobbies they loved, their roles in a family, their careers and strong enough for a wedding dance with a loved one.
